It seems like yesterday, but the good news of our selection as a Humasol project student, came almost 500 days ago! Today, the adventure finally begins after saying goodbye to our loved ones. After assuring that we will keep it safe, it’s time to go. GSP to Brussels Airport by train, to Cairo by plane. During the flight, it seemed like we were travelling with a kindergarten companionship. Crying and screaming all around, but nothing could stop our excitement. Back on the ground, the land of the farao’s provided its first surprise. Due to our 22-hour lay-over, we were given a 5 star accomodation, 3 meals included, for free! But the main question remained… is there enough time for a visit to the ancient wonder of the world? Going back and forth between playing it safe and getting hyped for the pyramids, we arranged a hotel pick-up and airport drop-off by official tourist guides. The negotiations by Elisabeth did not go fully as planned, but when at first you don’t succeed…! We predict there will be plenty of opportunity to sharpen these skills in Congo. We arrived at our luxurious hotel and were still able to enjoy a variety of buffet-options. After playing what is probably the first of many cardgames at the poolside, we go to bed. The adventure has begun, and so has the fun.
