Day 69
What I did not realize, was that we are now in the rainforest, which apparently means that there are more hours of rain during the day than there is sun. And anyone who knows me, knows that I really am not a big fan of rain, so I was quite disappointed waking up to the sound of rain and thunder. By the time I had finished my breakfast, it was almost dry again and we made our way to the bus terminal. We took the earliest bus that took us over the border to the Brazilian side of Iguazu. Very sad that as we only crossed the border for a day, we did not get a stamp in our passport of Brazil. However, as a compromise, we did get a stamp in our passports before entering Iguaçu National Park. We took the park bus to the first lookout point over the falls. It was very beautiful, even though the sky was gray and it rained softly. From this point out, a trail started along the beautiful falls. We walked about five kilometers, in which all we saw was pretty views over the waterfalls. It was like something I had never seen before. On the way we came across quaties, monkey like animals with a long snout and a striped tail. At the end of the trail, we could go onto a small bridge and get really close to the waterfalls. We got completely soaked, but it was very worth it, because it was breathtaking and felt so good. When we had seen all of the national park, we made our way to the bus again. It was raining, but this time it did not matter as we were already soaked. We arrived at Puerto Iguazu about an hour later, where we went to have dinner at the same place as yesterday. We were pretty exhausted and therefore went to bed early.
