Salta

Argentinië, Salta

Day 47

We started this morning with the walking tour around Salta. The first stop on the tour was the Catedral de Salta at Plaza 9 de Julio. The most important church of Salta, which has about ten services a day. We then walked on towards the San Francisco church, which is an iconic big red church, a really nice one. Even though the inside of the church was quite simple and not at all like most South American churches, the outside was so very pretty that it is one of my favorite churches so far on this trip. Thereafter, we continued walking towards Convento de San Bernardo. It is one of the oldest builings in the city. Then, after a few blocks, we arrived at Club 20 de Febrero. It is again one of the oldest buildings and used to be a club for all the rich and wealthy people of Salta. The last stop was at the Monument of General Martín Miguel de Güemes. A huge statue at the edge of the city to honor their national hero. We spent the rest of the day exploring the city. We tried to make it to the evening walking tour as well, but I talked a little too long to my best friend on the phone (<3) and it was a little further away than we thought. And so we walked through the city and eventually went back to the hostel.
