Verenigde Staten, Washington D.C.

Day 9

This morning I had the pleasure of waking up at 3:30am to skype with my beloved ex-colleague (sad) and best friend (not past tense luckily) during her break at the Appie ((: yay me. Luckily I got to sleep after that again until around 7:00am. After our usual bagel and fruit breakfast, we went to the National Gallery of Art. Though I am not big of an art person, it was nice to see the work of some great painters, such as van Gogh and Monet. After looking around the gallery for a while, we went on to the National Archives, home of the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. Afterwards, while walking towards the Supreme Court building, we came across the Trans Rights March. It was amazing and heartwarming to see how many people participated in the march. Even though it was a Saturday and we could therefore not enter the Supreme Court Building, it was already beautiful and enormous from the outside. Luckily, we were able to visit the Library of Congress, just a few meters apart from the Supreme Court Building. The library was beautiful and so huge, with different departments and the most beautiful wallpaintings and ornaments. Because we were a little done with all the sightseeing for a moment, we spent our afternoon at the baseball game of the Washington Nationals against the Cleveland Indians. It was a whole different world, but very special and fun to experience at least once in your life. And, to finish this day, WE WON!
