New York

Verenigde Staten, New York

Day 4

Last night I managed to stay up until a little before 9pm, and subsequently slept through three car alarms, so it's safe to say the jetlag still has the upperhand. After having bagels for breakfast, we took the bus to the Liberty State Park station. After a nice walk in the sun through the park we arrived at the ferry station. The views over both New York City and Jersey City from the ferry were amazing. The ferry took us to Ellis Island first. Here, we walked through the Ellis Island National Museum of Immigration, which was fairly interesting. It told us everything about immigrants coming into the United States since the 1800's.
Hereafter, the ferry took us to the Statue of Liberty. She was absolutely amazing, stunning, impressive, and huge, both from a distance, as well as from nearby. There was a great view over Manhattan, the Brooklyn Bridge, and Queens. After walking around the statue and visiting the museum, we also entered the statue itself, right up to the top of the pedestel, again with great views.
After spending the day on Liberty Island, the ferry took us back to Jersey City. We finally got ourselves some matches, so we could eat a warm dinner at last. It was not only us who enjoyed our simple macaroni meal, because after dinner we noticed a small unwanted guest (mouse, yikes), who also appreciated the macaroni.
