Day 19

This morning we left the hostel at a little past 6am, to catch the bus to the Yosemite National Park. After a four and a half hour busride, we arrived in the national park. We made a few stops with the bus to take pictures and to enjoy the beutiful surroundings. We were then dropped off somewhere in the middle of the park, to spend three hours by ourselves. I went on the three hour hike through the park, together with Isabel and three other Germans we had met earlier on the bus. The views were amazing and truly breathtaking. However, because it is already fall, there was no snow left to melt from the mountaintops, and thus no waterfall. Also, because there are quite some fires in the San Francisco/Yosemite area, there was a shower of ashes at the end of the day, and a lot of smoke which blocked the beautiful views. So, we had been very lucky to have been able to see everything before the smoke got too thick. The only thing we sadly did not see were any of the black bears living in the park, that would have been cool. We arrived back at our hostel at around 10:30pm after again another four and a half hours in the bus and called it a day.
