Day 40
As this was our last day in La Paz, we packed our backpacks in the morning. It was still not possible to go to the Moon Valley as the protests were still going on, and so we decided to explore the city via the Cable Cars. We left the hostel and took a minivan to the first station, which was the Red line. This line took us to El Alto, at 4095 meters above sealevel. Here, we walked around the area where the whitches work for a while and then continued on the Silver line. This line had some great views over the city, as well as some cemeteries. Opposed to burying people in the ground like we do in The Netherlands, here they put people in buildings. From the Silver line we continued onto the Blue line, then the White line, and at last the Orange line. The views were amazing and we had a local explaining us what all the buildings were, such as the president's house. After taking a lot of the Cable Cars, we walked back to the hostel. On our way there, a lot of streets were blocked by the police or the army and there were a lot of people on the streets with fireworks, flags, and dynamyte for the protests in the whole of La Paz at 7pm. Luckily, once we were at the hostel, we only had to eat some dinner and then grab the nightbus to Uyuni.
