Day 51
We arrived at our stopover, Santiago del Estero, at around ten in the night. So far, we have only been in the cheapest hostels available, but as this wasn't a touristic area, there were no hostels. And so we slept in a three star hotel for only nine euros, breakfast included. And the breakfast was good, with all kinds of pastries, toasts, orange juice, even croissants. After breakfast we packed our backpacks and then went into the city. As a lot of shops were closed because of the siësta, we walked around the city and looked at the highlights. We passed two parks and went to the cathedral. After that, we went to some shoe shops as I forgot my shoes in Salta (oops). Then, we had lunch in the hotel while we were waiting for the siesta to be over. After that we went back to the city and went to the Museo San Francisco Solano. There were a lot of different things to see, like photographs from the early 1900's, old artefacts from churches, but the best part was the floor with Inca artefacts and huge skeletons. We had a drink at a café, watched the finals of the South American soccer cup on television and then had dinner on the way back to the hotel. We stayed in the hotel until midnight and then took the nightbus at 1am to the next destination.
