Day 54

This was our last day in Córdoba and since all the museums had been closed on Sunday and Monday, we decided to visit some of them today. At first we went to Museo de la Memoria. This museum was set up to never forget the horrible actions during the last dictatorship in Argentina when an average of thirty thousand people were kidnapped and tortured, some of them even killed. Amongst those people were also pregnant women whose children have never been found. The grandmothers of these babies still come together every week to look for their lost grandchildren. They are known as Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo. Every time a lost person is found, they turn on a light in the tree. From the approximately 300 persons that are missing, over a 100 are already found. After this impressive museum, we went on to Museo Superior de Bellas Artes Evita - Palacio Ferreyra. A palace that was transformed into an art museum after it was not being used anymore. Afterwards we made our way to Museo Palacio Dionisi, a gallery full of photographs. They had both black and white photographs, as well as more modern art. After these museums we sat down in Starbucks, wrote our postcards, and ate something. And then we went to the fourth museum; Museo Provincial de Bellas Artes Emilio Caraffa. There were nine different art exhibitions, all from very different artists with all kinds of different topics. When we had explored all the floors we went outside where the rain was pouring. We took a taxi back to the hostel, had some dinner and took the bus to the next destination at 9:30pm.
