Thursday 8 December
I started the day by eating some rice with delicous left over green curry from Zai's uncle. Our ass was hurting so much from the scooter the last days and thankfully Zai's brother let us use his car. It's a nice Honda. Her dad also has a nice 4x4 and I was wondering how it's possible everyone drives nice cars here. Zai said that everyone buys it by paying after to the bank. Aha, that explains.
We left early to head off to the Phanum Rung national park, which is about 3 hours away from Ubon. We first visited Prasat Muang Tam which is beautifull. The architecture is so impressive. Im just wondering how they can build this massive structures without our tools.. simply amazing.
After that we headed of to Prasat Phanom Rung which is one of the most impressive structures in Thailand. It is build between the 10th - 13th century and is build in the Angkor Wat style as in Cambodia. Luckely there were not many tourists at all, which make the experience always better for me.
We spent the night at Zai's uncle in Buriram. Through Facebook I spoke to a Dutch guy (Mathijs) half a year ago and I know he had a bar there. So we decided to visit him. We drank a beer and had some Dutch snacks! We had frikandel speciaal, kroket and kaassoufflé😄 After that Mathijs took us to the food market by motorbike and we ate some Pad Thai and drank beer. Friday 9 december
Yesterday Mathijs told me I could extend my visum in town. I only have a tourist visum for 15 days, since I came into Thailand by bus. I want to stay here untill around mid January. So the first thing I did was going to the immigration office. Normally when you want to extend your visum you have to wait for hours, especially in busy cities. I was lucky and it was arranged untill within 15 minutes! I can stay untill 17 January 👌 After that we drove back to Ubon and visited one small ruine on the way.
When we got home we went to the market to get ingredients for springrolls and red curry. We also bought some nice fireworks and a present for Zai's parents. It's unbelievable that I can buy the's big fireworks in a normal store. In Holland this is extreme illegal. In the evening we lighted the firework which was so loud 😂
Zai's uncle teached me how to make red curry. I was surprised by the amount of sugar they put in, it's really a lot. He also thought me how to make springrolls. I definitely want to make this often when I get back home, its delicious.
Later in the evening I took the family to MC Donalds for a dessert, god I love ice cream...
