Pai

Thailand, Pai

Friday 4 November

Today I wanted to go to Pai with a scooter from Aya Service. This company brings your big backpack to Pai for yo, so you can ride more easily with the scooter. I already was there last week and wanted to make a reservation to make sure I could go. Unfortunately they don't do reservations and had to come there on the day I wanted to go.
So after jogging around the old town of Chiang Mai I asked Rob from the hostel if he could call the Aya Service for me. They said they didn't had any scooters left, arggggggh. I already was afraid of this to happen. I was really looking forward to this and was determined to go today.
So I set up a plan to just pay for the luggage bring transported there, and rent a bike somewhere else. I also met 3 other Dutchies (Ties,Tim and Jorrit)this morning and they also wanted to join in. After arranging a motorbike we could finally leave in the afternoon. I got a bigger 250cc motorbike together with Tim, the others just went for a normal scooter. A bigger one is more fun in my opinion.

Alot of people said it was going to be a dangerous road. By the scratches and wounds I saw at alot of backpackers coming from Pai, I expected it to be dangerous. It turned out to be fine, the road was good and if you drive normally then it's really no problem... If you habe experience in riding a motorbike 😅 Ties almost crashed his bike in the first curve already. Phffffff luckely he only broke the mirror of the scooter. After explaining him not to use the front brake while driving curves, we continues our way to Pai✌
When we arrivedo at the Pai Circus Hostel we got a 4 person room with rock hard beds. This was normal in Pai everyone said. For me it's no problem, at the temple the beds were also hard and I had the best sleeps of my life.
In the evening we drank some beers and mixes at the hostel while socializing with other people. At 0.00 everything closes because of the Kings dead. There is only 1 bar open who pays the police for it😂 everyone comes here after midnight. I just talked to alot of people and drank some cola rum for only €1.75. After eating some delicious spring rolls and chicken, we wanted to go home. Just when we were about to leave I hear something hitting the ground and after that alot of screaming. Some drunk guy just felt of a scooter and smashed his head on the ground. I runned over to him to provide first aid. His head was bleeding and he was not responding. After awhile he got concious again and together with a girl we helped him untill the ambulance came. Pff that was not a nice end of the day.

Saturday 5 november
At 9.00 there was a yoga session planned at the hostel and I wanted to go there. I wake up and I think I had 1 cola rum to much yesterday: No yoga today. We just chilled at the pool and later we went to the "grand canyon" of Pai to watch sunset 🌄

Sunday 6 november
We started today with yoga and some healthy food. There's this small vegan restaurant just 200 meters away from the hostel. I got a multi layered smoothie and humus with vegetables on a toast 😍 In the afternoon we drove to a "secret" waterfall. Yesterday at the bar some guy told me about it. He gave me directions like; go to the little town, drive through the first gate and out of the town through the second gate. Then when you see a big tree you turn right and go go go. Haha so we were on a mission. We drove as far as we could with our motorbike untill we came at a river. We had to hike from there. After 5 min we saw a couple who had been there. They said it was still a 1.5 hours hike. It was already 15.00 so everyone in the group said oh no then we go back becausebecause it it was going to be dark in the jungle when we were going back. I was like oh come on! It's an adventure. Gladly Sofia, which I met yesterday thought exactly the same and we continued together💪 It was a beautiful hike were we had to walk through the river several times with our shoes on. At the end there was a waterfall. It wasn't as cool as I expected, but I was also already spoiled in Lombok where I saw the best waterfall in my life. We just made it back out of the jungle before it was dark.
When we were back we went to the food market and bought several kinds of food. Springrolls, squid, rice etcetera. Cheap and good!!
In the evening we went to the don't cry bar again and had a good time. The end was funny. We were having some Pad Thai and springrolls at the foodstall across the street. There was this drunk Brazilian guy who couldn't get his motorbike to start. I helped him out and then he drove off, at least he tried. He was so drunk I don't know how that man came home😂 no problem in Thailand by the way..

Monday 8 november
After waking up pretty late I texted Raymond to go do something. The last 2 days I wanted to get up early and so something. The guys who I travel with are not ad active as I am. I love to do stuff, explore the area for example. I noticed that Raymond is also motivated to do something instead of hanging around at the pool. We met up at the healthy vegan restaurant (Pernpai) and after a tempeh salad and a smoothie we took off with a American guy aswell. We went to a hotspring and a waterfall. The waterfall was fun because you can do some cliff jumping there. After that we split up and I wanted to go to a view point. I never found it, but instead of that I saw these beautiful rice fields and there were hardly any people there😀 I watched sunset while riding back home.
It was my last evening and we went to do don't cry bar again. Yesterday I tried some of the Mojito which they sell in buckets. I ordered one aswell and that was enough for tonight. After having some last fun with the people from the food stall I headed home, way to late 👀 Tomorrow I'm driving back by a 2 day trip to Chiang Mai.
