Verenigde Staten, Tropic

De wandelschoenen kunnen uit het koffer. De 1e wandeling staat op het programma. We gaan vanaf Tropic naar Lower Calf Creek. Dit ligt in Grant Staircase Ascilante National Park. We willen vroeg vertrekken ivm de warmte en een kleine kans op onweer vanmiddag. Vroeg vertrekken moet lukken want ik typ dit berichtje om 4.00 vanuit bed. (De rest slaapt gelukkig wel nog). Om 8.00 uur zaten we in de auto riching Boulder. De route gaat via de UT highway 12.
1 van de mooiste wegen van Amerika. Het was écht prachtig. Dan de hike. Auw mug, we zijn 3 x dood gegaan onderweg, maar wat was dat de moeite waard. Hopelijk laten de foto's goed zien hoe prachtig de omgeving en aan het eindpunt de waterval was. Ijskoud water, maar meteen kopje onder. Helaas helaas moesten we in de snikhete zon dezelfde route ook weer terug, maar daar wachtte onze auto met in de kofferbak wel 2 koelboxen met koude blikjes cola. Er was dus paniek toen de afstandsbediening van de auto ineens NIKS meer deed 😨😨😨. Geen enkele deur ging meer open. Dat was op z'n zachtst gezegd NIET LEUK. Alle 4 een kop als een tomaat, zeiknat van de zweet, inmiddels niet meer van de waterval, en dan dit. Alle standjes uitgeprobeerd met de afstandsbediening. 1 x kort drukken. 2 x kort drukken. 1 x lang drukken. Geen reactie van de auto. We waren al zowat met het verhuurbedrijf aan het bellen toen we een schuifje ontdekten. Zal wel de batterij inzitten.... Ik doe het schuifje opzij, komt er een sleutel uit !!!!!! Wat een opluchting. We zijn nog ff in de schaduw aan een picknickbank blijven uitdampen met de lekkere koude blikjes en een zak chips. Bij het wegrijden zagen we ook nog ons vervoermiddel voor een volgende keer. (Zie foto's). Toen terug via dezelfde schitterende weg richting Ruby's RV camp in Bryce National Park. Een schattig huisje, met een 2 persoons stapelbed, 1 tafel en 3 bankjes. That's it for tonight. Voor de rest niks meer gedaan behalve eten en een potje voetballen. Op naar morgen (hopelijk na een langere nacht dan de vorige 2)

Saturday 07 July 2018, Tropic, USA The walking shoes can be removed from the suitcase. The 1st walk is on the program. We are going from Tropic to Lower Calf Creek. This is located at Grant Staircase Ascilante National Park. We want to leave early due to the heat and a small chance of thunder this afternoon. Early departures must be successful because I type this message at 4.00 from bed. (The rest is still asleep). At 8.00 we were in the car direction Boulder. The route goes via the UT highway 12. 1 of the most beautiful roads in America. It was really beautiful. Then the hike. Your mosquito, we died 3 times on the road, but what was that worth it? Hopefully the photos will show you how beautiful the surroundings and the end point was the waterfall. Ice cold water, but immediately cup under. Unfortunately, unfortunately, we had to return to the same route in the sweltering sun, but our car was waiting in the trunk with two cool boxes with cold cans of coke. There was a panic when the remote control of the car suddenly did NIKS more. No door opened more. That was NOT FUN to say the least. All 4 a cup like a tomato, soaking wet with sweat, now no longer from the waterfall, and then this. Tested all positions with the remote control. Briefly press once. Press briefly twice. Press once for a long time. No response from the car. We were already about to call the rental company when we discovered a slide. Will the battery in ... I put aside the slide, a key comes out !!!!!! What a relief. We are still ff in the shade on a picnic bench continue to evaporate with the tasty cold cans and a bag of chips. When we drove away we also saw our means of transport for a next time. (See pictures). Back through the same beautiful road towards Ruby's RV camp in Bryce National Park. A cute little house with a 2 person bunk bed, 1 table and 3 benches. That's it for tonight. For the rest nothing more done except food and a game of football. Wat een avontuur!! Sjiek die waterval. Misschien onze verbouwing maar stop leggen en sparen voor net zo een fantastische reis;-)
