Australia...My New Home :-)

Australië, Mornington

Dear all,
Since I'm back in Australia lot's of good things have happened and it's time for a short update ;-)

I arrived in Melbourne on the 30th of July. After a long chat at Immigration, I finally was allowed to enter Australia again. But they were very strict this time and warned me that after this time I could not enter Australia anymore on the Tourist Visa. I've exceeded the entries in a very short time (and staying for the max period each time) and it seemed to them that I was already living here. So they adviced me to think about my future, my relationship and my opportunities for staying in Australia.

Well... this was an immediate confronting experience of my current life & love-situation... But, I let it rest for a moment and just enjoyed the feeling of being back in Australia again. Brett was waiting for me at the other side and was wondering what took me so long to get through the Arrival-door...

Ahhh, finally reunited again, after 5 weeks being apart this time. From Melbourne-airport we drove down to Mornington (it's about an hour from the city). Brett has been living with his father, Mario, and his father's partner, Trish, since 4 years. This happened after the break-up with his previous partner (they were together for 20 years). He never would have thought to live so many years with his father afterwards, but during the past years he did not feel the urgency to move out quickly. However, since we've met 6 months ago, things have changed. And during our time of seperation he already started to search for a rental house to move in with me and start a new life. When I arrived the search for the best rental place was still going, so I was welcome to stay with him @ his father's place. Mario and Trish were very warm and welcoming towards me and accepted me as Brett’s partner. We stayed with them for 1.5 week, which was a perfect and pleasant introduction to the family before we moved into our own house.

After a few weeks living together in our own rental house, we investigated the opportunities for applying for a Partner Visa for me. We don’t want to be seperated again without any certainty that we might not see each other soon again. We want to stay together and that this be forever. The only way to make sure we can achieve this, is to marry one another. And what could be a better reason than that? It is a life-long committment and we both want to spend the rest of our lives with each other. We are very excited, because it’s all happening right now, our dreams are coming true and we both found the Love in each other to fullfill them. We feel really blessed with our connection of souls and we are each other’s best friend and lover.

Brett’s first meeting with my parents, Hilly & Jacques, took place via Skype, because they live in Singapore. This was a replacement of the traditional ‘hand-asking-scene’ by Brett. It was a very nice conversation and my parents were excited and happy for us for making the decision to marry. However, they were still a bit in shock, because it is a really fast and definitive decision. The only way for them to find out if this relationship was one they would believe in, was to come over, meet Brett and his parents, and be witnesses at our wedding ceremony. And so, they did!! They stayed with us for five days and obtained a good impression of my life here, my relationship with Brett and his family. They very much enjoyed their stay here and are convinced about our relationship together, which made us very happy.

The wedding ceremony took place on Monday 3 Oct. We planned to have it on the beach (it was Brett's mothers' favorite beach, she passed away four years ago). But unfortunately the weather was not really beach-proof that day, so we used our Plan B- location, which was at Brett's father's place. Very intimate and personal with only our parents as witnesses. We just wanted to have a very simple and pure ceremony for now, because the wedding had to take place asap regarding the Visa application. However, it was a really beautiful day and we both enjoyed it very much. Trish made an amazing & delicious wedding-cake for us. There was a lot of love and positive energy present, and looking back now, the days actually felt like Christmas! So cozy, warm & happy :-)

So now, we are Mr & Mrs Torossi, but we are planning to do our wedding ceremony & party again next year to celebrate it with the rest of our family and friends. It will most probably take place in Bali (just in between Australia, Singapore & The Netherlands;-) where we have spend an amazing time with each other before.

The Visa application is now in process and with a little bit of luck, I could become an Australian resident within 13 months. We will be living here in Mornington-area because of Brett's son, little Ziggy, 6yrs old. He lives with his mother during the week and on Sundays he's with us. We are very happy to continue to grow with him and each other and form a happy family :-)

Of course, I've also made some new yoga-friends here at the Bikram Yoga Peninsula studio which now feels like home to me. And at this studio I regularly meet teachers from my Teacher Training as well, which is really great!! My dream of setting up an own yogastudio is still going but continues here now...

In short, Life is good & We are very Happy!!

Hope all is good with you as well and wishing you much love & blessings wherever you are.
Love, Xx
Lina

PS: To my Australian friends, we will catch up soon!! X
