Time to celebrate, relax & enjoy ;-)

Australië, Launceston

Hello dear ones,
It's me again :) First of all, THANK YOU so much everybody for my Bday-whishes!! Really appreciated :-) I had a very nice one, with my mother coming to visit me in Cobargo. She arrived the night before my Bday and on the day itself, 28 Jan, she practiced my class again in the morning (the first time she did that was right after my TeacherTraining). Straight after class we went to the beach in Bermagui (just 20 min drive) and we had a delicious lunch and celebrated my Sparkling & Sunny Bday at the Harborside. It was a beautiful day!
The next days we did other enjoyable things like: cheese & wine-tastings in Tilba, seafood-lunches with amazing views in Narooma, swimming in the Blue Pool (natural rock pool with ocean water) in Bermagui .... & lot's of yoga of course. My mother even practiced 11 days in a row, EVERY morningclass she came!! Really proud of her!
On the 3rd of Feb, my father arrived as well. He hired a car in Sydney and drove all the way down to Cobargo (6-hrs drive). I was very happy to be re-united with my parents in this comfortable place and even more delighted that my parents together practiced my yoga-class the very next morning. They did very well, and I'm glad that my father also enjoyed the class, as he practiced two times more after his very first one! After my father's first class, of course, we had a well-deserved seafood lunch again in Bermagui ;)
On the weekend we visited another coastal town more down, called Thatra, which is rich in history and sea traditions. It has the only remaining sea wharf on the East Coast and below the wharf is a wonderland for scuba divers and snorkellers. We also did a nice coast walk along the beach on a hot Sunday. We discovered some beautiful spots where I was in the mood to do some yoga-poses, perfect time of the day! Luckily, there was somebody with a foto-camera ;-)
On Monday 8th of Feb after my last morning class in Cobargo, we left by car and drove down in the direction of Melbourne to start (or continue) our family-holiday! It's a 9-hrs drive so we drove in 2 days and stayed the night in Sale, where we had some jummy Indian food, mmmm.... Next day, we arrived in Melbs and took the plane to Hobart on Tasmania. Wauw.....wat a B-E-A-U-tiful island!! The air is so fresh, the colours are so clear, the food is absolutely delicious and the wines are heavenly....haha! Luckily, it is summertime (Jan & Feb), but even then it could be cold some days (like 13-14 degrees....brrrr). However, we had some nice warm days of 25-26 degrees as well. We started in Hobart, where I also taught and practiced some yoga-classes. Awesome studio and very nice teachers and students. It was a great experience and felt so nice to practice packed classes in another studio myself again (after 3 weeks teaching only and practicing on my own). Hobart is a beautiful town, super stunning sunsets from the harbour, amazing look-outs on top of the mountain and further down (Cygnet) are even more worth-seeing surroundings and nature.
After Hobart, we visited another major city of Tasmania, Launceston. There was a festival going on on the days of our visit, called Festivale (Aussies LOVE festivals;) It's a yearly 3-day summer event, designed to showcase the very best of Tasmanian food, wine, beer, arts and entertainment. Staged in Launceston's picturesque City Park, it's a perfect place for family & friends to come together under historic elm trees and celebrate what Tasmania has to offer to the world, haha.... We sure have tasted and celebrated along with them as well. But we also visited one of the beautiful wineries north of Launceston, Tamar Ridge, with spectacular views of the Tamar Valley and mountains. Here in Launceston I visited another Bikram Yoga studio, a very pretty one, set up in a former Roman Bath building. They've build the Hot-room on top of the old swimming pool and put the heating system below the room, inside the old pool. The place looks stunning with beautiful pillars, ceiling and comfortable changing rooms. I did not taught classes here, only practiced myself, which felt very luxurious. After all, I'm on Holiday ;-)
One day in Launceston, something funny happened..... We were making efforts to go in town from the appartment by car, so my father and I assumed we were all in the car (all 3 of us) and just started to drive. At one point after a couple of minutes, my mother was calling me. I thought, huh....? Why is she calling me, playing with her phone or something? So I asked her why and looked back (she was always sitting on the back-site because she likes to sleep a lot in the car).... But she was not there!!! My father and I both, "Huh?!!! Where is she?" Than we figured out, of course, we left her on the parking place of the appartments! Ow noooo! Haha, OMG! She rang again, I picked up : "Hello, you forgot me, I'm still here...!" haha, luckily we could all 3 laugh about it, as it was indeed very funny! So we returned immediately and picked her up. She said: "I never understood those parents who forget their own children on parking places at supermarkets, until now.... You just forgot me and didn't even notice it until I rang! Hahahahaha, OK, that was a very funny experience. I still have to laugh about it when I think back. Mama, we will never forget you anymore!! ;-) X
After Launceston, we traveled more up north-west and stayed near the famous Cradle Mountain in the Central Highlands region of Tasmania. A wilderness retreat, it was called "Lemonthyme". They've build tree-houses overlooking trees and nature, and nothing else in the near surroundings. It was very cold up there, but really beautiful. Reminded me of Autumn in the Netherlands. So much colours in the forests and creeks. Wonderful place to do some bushwalking. Unfortunately, the weather was not so good to go to the Cradle Mountain. But that was ok, we just did another wine/spirits tasting instead with a very funny guy who makes his own apple cider & spirits and sold the wine of his neighbour-friend.
Our last place to visit on the island was at the East Coast, Coles Bay. Back to the seaside again, with its famous Wineglass Bay (looks like a wineglass from top) where pink granite mountains rising straight from the sea and form a magnificent sheltered waterway. Sunsets are golden here as well. The place is also known for its fine & delicious Oysters, which are offered at many wineries here as well. Devil's Corner, was the last winery we visited and tasted. Again, one with amazing views overlooking the Hazards & Freycinet Peninsula. Oysters tasted very nice here as well ;-)
So, on all good things comes an end & this holiday was now about to finish. We drove back to Launceston, I had a final yoga-class (after all those delicious tastings I was craving for it!!!) and I tried a floating session for the very first time in my life. It was amazing!! 1 hour just floating in salt water with magnesium, totally relaxed, and after a while...just let go! Body relaxed, mind relaxed, and then fall into deep deep relaxation. Mmmm, what a wonderful experience to end this holiday with.
Thank you so much dear parents for this amazing holiday!!! Our paths now diverge again and my next destination is Brisbane. Have to get back to work, haha! Which is not unpleasant at all. A new experience, new studio's, new students, new teachers....Exciting!! I will stay here 3 weeks, so keep you posted!!
Byebye for now with lot's of Love, XxL
