Next destination for me was.... Hawaii!! I signed up for an 8-day Hot Bikram Retreat with one of the yoga-world champions, Cynthia Wehr from the US. She's an amazing teacher and a beautiful person in many ways. I've learned a lot from her. The retreat-group consisted of a great bunch of ladies and 1 awesome man (Cynthia's boyfriend, Steve) who were mostly from the US and 1 from Ireland. We had a pleasant time on Oahu and enjoyed the beautiful island as well. Hawaii is an amazing place!!
However, I was a little bit dissapointed that the retreat didn't contain as much Advanced Yoga-series as was advertised. Moreover, the organisation of this one was very bad. The organiser didn't even show up (rumeurs go around that there were too less participants for her to come over to Hawaii...) So she, Christiane Mueller, left the whole running of the retreat over to the teacher, Cynthia, and her boyfriend, Steve. That's why there was no schedule, no structure, poor transport-facilities to practice yoga at a studio, the hotel didn't even know we were a yoga-retreat group... Cynthia & Steve have done a fantastic awesome job in the end running the whole retreat, but we practiced only 1 Advanced Class :-( ... A great one though!!
However, my advise to everyone who read this and is interested in Yoga-Retreats, do NOT book the ones named "Hot Bikram Retreats", it's a waste of money cause the organizer doesn't even care about her guests and she just keeps half of the price for herself (if not more). And even worse, I found out she's not even a certified Bikram-teacher! She just uses the name and hires Bikram teachers to make it a Bikram Retreat...?!$#$#% But Cynthia also discoverd that she's way better off in organizing her own retreats in the future. We all learned from this experience and luckily we were a close group and took care of each other. We just made the best of it and in the end we had a fantastic time on Hawaii! Really thankful for everyone who I've met and extending my yoga-family!! Love you all & miss you! X
