Australia Part II

Australië, Nieuw-Zuid-Wales

Lovely family & friends,
Part II of my Australian Adventure was more enjoyable & easy. I stayed the whole month November with the amazing Amrei Newcombe in Cobargo at the Sapphire Coast (very tiny place in New South Wales). Her studio is very tiny as well, maybe 6-14 students per class. But it was very comfortable living just across the studio (only crossing the street) and her classes were very intense because they were so small. She's an amazing mentor, gives loving & helpful feedback and corrections and is (very important) a wonderful cook!! I had a great time with her, she was taking care for me as one of her own daughters with so much LOVE. I am really lucky I've met her and I've learned a lot during my time with her.
She also made her car available for me to go around. So she suggested for me to visit some other studio's in "the neighbourhood" (in normal terms: like 3 hours driving away....haha) and teach some classes so I could earn some money, as my stay with her was unpaid - just mentoring / accommodation / food & use of car. I made a little Road-Trip and drove to Canberra, more up north 2,5 hours driving. I taught 4 classes in 2 studio's there and could stay in 1 of the studio's (not in the Hot-Room as in Melbourne, just a normal bed in a normal seperate room in the studio;) Lovely owners, and very nice students. I've met someone from my Training as well, he took my class, always nice to catch up again with Trainee-fellows ;) After two days, I drove further more up north to Wollongong 3,5 hours (just 1 hour below Sydney), beautiful place at the Coast. Studio was a bit different than the other ones, owner was offering a lot of different yoga-styles as well, but they were very nice and I experienced another pleasant 2-day stay ;)
The way back to Cobargo was a full 5-6 hours drive along the Coast and through beautiful surroundings, green hills & stunning views. I really enjoy driving in Australia, such a feeling of freedom & blessing to be witness of all these beautiful natures and images along the way. It was a great Road-Trip, but it was also very nice again to come "Home" to lovely Cobargo. It's so quiet and peaceful, yet still enough to see & do in the direct surroundings. Nearest beach is only 15-20 min drive away and there's another place, Tilba, famous for it's cheese-makings (haha, feels even more like home ;) A special friend from Melbourne took me there for lunch. He was driving from Sydney to Melbourne (12 hours drive) and stopped @ my place to have lunch together and catch up. How cool & sweet? He took me to Tilba, we tasted the cheese, drunk some wine and had a nice lunch outside. His dog was accompanying him all the time, so cute!
At the end of my stay in Cobargo, Amrei organized a Retreat with intensive Posture Clinics. Four other awesome ladies (1 teacher & 3 students) joined us and I participated as well. We learned even more in every posture up to the tiniest (but not unimportant) details. We had a great time and took the yoga serious during the days, but in evenings we just relaxed and enjoyed the great food with a nice glass of wine ;) It has been a great month, sweet November!
The last week of my Australian Adventure I went to Perth. I was so curious to this laidback place in West-Australia with its nice beaches and beautiful sunny weather. The flight was 6 hours (via Melbourne) and the time difference is 3 hours later (same timezone as Singapore & Bali). I didn't realize that when studio-owner in Perth asked me to teach a class at 8pm on my day of arrival. I said yes, why not, I am happy to practice as well after a 6 hours flight (before teaching). Haha..... I didn't realize it was actually already 11pm in my previous timezone (and I didn't slept in the plane because the movies were so cool;) But I managed everything in the end. I practiced a class right after arrival, and then I taught my first class there at 11pm ;)
I was staying in a room at the studio again, so very easy and comfortable. I could just go straight to bed & relax. It was perfect! I've met some great teachers & students in Perth. Beaches are indeed very beautiful, nice white sands and clear blue waters..... Only 1 thing: there seem to be a lot of sharks very close to the beaches. :( That's a bit scary, huh?!
I was so lucky that one of the students took me to Swan Valley; a tasting paradise just 30 min from Perth with lots of wineries, breweries, cheese-tasings, chocolate-factories, restaurants, coffeeshops, ice-cream..... all very delicious tasting-things!! O my God, I tasted so much, luckily they closed at 5pm.. I could have stayed there forever ;)
Aussie's love to party btw, their Christmas party's starting already as from the 1st of Dec. So 5 Dec I attended a Christmas-Drink of one of the yoga-studio's near the beach. I enjoyed my time in Perth, have met lovely people & had much fun teaching there as well!
Currenty, I'm back in Singapore again with my parents. I'm very excited to go back to the Netherlands tomorrow!!! Wow, I've been away for 9 months, didn't feel so long actually :) But yes, looking very much forward to see most of you all & will prepare myself for the cold weather.....
See ya soon!! Love,Xxxxx
