Vandaag is rustdag, maar ik moest nog wel even sightseeing in Bilbao doen en een stempel bij de Kathedraal halen. Om maar met de deur in huis te vallen de Kathedraal was gesloten. Eerst dacht ik dat ik te vroeg was, maar in verband met de missen zijn alle kerken in Bilbao op Zondag gesloten. Helaas heb ik nu dus geen kathedraalstempel in mijn boekje. Gelukkig is er altijd nog de toeristen informatie die hebben gelukkig wel een stempel dus ik zit in ieder geval weer op schema. Verder heb ik wat door de oude stat gebanjerd en een croissant gegeten. Ik was om 10:30 natuurlijk te vroeg, maar om een uur of 11:30 wagen ook de locals zich op straat. Wat me opviel is dat de lokale opa's heel fanatiek voetbal plaatjes sparen. Ze stonden tenminste op iedere straathoek heftig de discussiëren terwijl ze briefjes met daarop La Liga kochten/uitruilden...of zal het toch iets anders zijn geweest 😏. De oude stad is leuk, maar waarschijnlijk komt hij s'avonds pas echt tot leven, nu was heteen beetje een dooie boel. Ik vond de oude stad van Pamplona mooier. Na de oude stad richting het Guggenheim museum. Het is inderdaad een mooi gebouw, zowel van buiten als van binnen. Nu moet ik wel zeggen dat ik niet zoveel heb met moderne kunst en Ivm corona mocht je ook niet overal in, dus dan kun je de installaties niet echt ervaren. Het leukste vond ik een kamer die vol rook staat met een soort licht installatie. Je kunt maar 1 m zien dus je loopt constant bijna tegen de muur of andere mensen aan. Of dit helemaal Corona proof was weer ik niet...🙄. Na het Guggenheim weer met de metro terug, die was trouwens stampend vol want iedereen wilde naar het strand met de 32 graden hier. Ik dus ook naar het strand en ja het was erg druk, maar ik heb er toch een uur of 3 gezeten en ik ben zelfs in de zee geweest. Het is hier een nogal wilde zee dus het zand zat overal 😊, gelukkig heb ik het er net weer af kunnen douchen. Morgen weer op pad eens kijken waar ik uitkom 😀.

Today was rest day but I still had to get my Bilbao stamp. So I got onto the metro and headed directly to Bilbao Cathedral. Unfortunately it was closed on Sundays due to mass. Luckily the tourist office also had a stamp so at least I got that covered. I also wandered around the old town of Bilbao. It was probably a bit early because there was no one... After an hour some elderly men were appearing who were probably exchanging football cards. They were discussing over these cards that had "La Liga" on it and there was a kind of a head trade person who seemed to be in charge....might also have been something else...😉. The old town of Bilbao is fine although I likes Pamplona better. It probably comes to live more after dark..
After the old town I headed to the Guggenheim museum. It truly is a bautifull building both on the in and on the outside. Unfortunately I am not a real big fan of contemporary art and it also did not help that you were not allowed to enter some of the installations. The best thing was a smoke filled room with a light installation. You could only see 1m so it was very disorienting. You kept almost running into other people. I don't know if this was completely Corona proof though...🤔. After the Guggenheim I headed back to the camping in s packed metro, everybody was trying to get to the beach because the weather was so nice. I spant about 3 hours at the beach just relaxing. I even went I to the water. But because the see is quit wild I got sand everywhere...luckily I could shower it of. Tomorrow I'll be heading off again. First I'll have to get through the city, after that who knows where I'll end up...
