I started out pretty much as soon as it was light enough, 6.35, today. That was a bad idea. It rained and kept raining, while the weather forecasts said less rain after 11.00. And I underestimated how much energy more walking in the rain would cost me.
At first, there was some forest, then a lot of roads through open fields and low hills. Very exposed to wind and rain. And I very quickly got very tired of the rain. So that by the time I had walked for more than an hour, I had decided to walk to Gilsdorf, then take the train at Diekirch and go home. I was so fed up with walking in the rain I just didn't enjoy the walking anymore, and the last 10 km to Gilsdorf were pretty difficult. Or rather, longest 10 km ever. I just lost my motivation. Maybe if I had made a late start and skipped most of the medium-heavy rain, I'd have wanted to walk on, but that's all 'if' and 'had I ...', which is somewhat pointless. I did get to see a deer running across the path in the bit of forest in the first hour. Which is also by far the most interesting thing I can tell you about today's hike, most of it was a little boring or 'this would have been a nice forest without the rain'. I took a wrong turning somewhere, not because I missed a marking, but because the markings just completely vanished at a crossing. So I had to reclimb a hill. But not too much distance, fortunately.
I got to Gilsdorf shortly after 11.30. By that time, it didn't rain much anymore, but I really just lost my energy for hiking in this rainy weather. So I went home, seven days became five and a half, and I'll get back to this when I will enjoy it.
Hardly any photos, because I kept my camera in my bag because of the rain (the screen got damaged by the water yesterday).
