Voor de komende dagen hebben we op de agenda staan om het eiland verder te ontdekken 👀. Vrijdag met Ted’s Tours en zaterdag hebben we een 7-zitter gehuurd. Vandaag hebben we lekker gerelaxed en genoten van de mooie plekjes aan de verschillende strandjes 🏝 die op loopafstand zijn.

De locatie waar ons hotel is, is perfect gelegen. Het zit aan een prachtige baai. Elke dag lopen er toeristen langs om hiervan foto’s 📸 te maken. Naast het hotel bevindt zich een hele populaire bar / Mexicaanse 🇲🇽 eetplek genaamd Café Sol en schuin tegenover zitten 2 goed aangeschreven restaurants “castaways” en “primo” waar je met een fantastisch uitzicht heerlijk kunt dineren. Het is wel handig als je daar een dikke portemonnee 👛 meebrengt… (met overigens heel vrolijk gekleurd geld 💸.) Om de hoek begint de uitgaansstrip met een mix van bars, restaurants en hotels en alles wat ze maar kunnen verzinnen. Maar het is wel behoorlijk duur allemaal. Wij doen ons best om de wat beter geprijsde plekjes op te zoeken, waar het ook druk is met vooral Britse gasten. Maar ze zetten er hier zo een uitklaptafel en een paar plastic stoelen 🪑 op het trottoir bij en je hebt weer een plek. “Salina’s” is zo’n spot waar we steeds terug gaan. Het is een bar en winkel in één. In plaats van losse drankjes, koop je een fles rum en een paar flesjes cola, je krijgt glazen en ijs en bent voor een fractie van de barprijs klaar. Dicht gaan ze hier pas als er geen gasten meer zijn volgens mij.

Het geld 💴 hier is de Barbadian of “Bajan dollar”. Ook accepteren ze vaak US dollars. 1 Barbados dollar is ongeveer €0,45. Aan een bankpas heb je hier niet veel, een creditcard werkt gelukkig wel om geld op te nemen.


For the next few days our agenda is to further discover the island 👀. Friday with Ted's Tours and Saturday we have rented a 7-seater van. Today we relaxed and enjoyed the beautiful spots on the different beaches 🏝 that are within walking distance.

Our hotel is perfectly located. It sits on a beautiful bay. Every day tourists walk by to take pictures 📸. Next to the hotel is a very popular bar / Mexican 🇲🇽 food place called Café Sol and diagonally opposite are 2 well-regarded restaurants “castaways” and “primo” where you can dine with a fantastic view. It is handy if you bring a full wallet 👛 with you… (with very cheerfully colored money 💸.) Around the corner from us the entertainment strip starts with a mix of bars, restaurants and hotels and everything they can think of. But it is all quite expensive. We do our best to find the slightly better priced spots, which are also busy with mainly British guests. But they'll just add a pull-out table and a couple of plastic chairs 🪑 on the sidewalk and there you have another spot. “Salina's" is one of those places we keep going back to. It's a bar and shop in one. Instead of individual drinks, we buy a bottle of rum and a few bottles of Coke, get glasses and ice and be done for a fraction of the bar price. They only close here when there are no more guests, I think.

The money 💴 here is the Barbadian or “Bajan dollar”. They also accept US dollars most times.1 Barbados dollar is about €0.45. A debit card is not much use here, luckily a credit card works for withdrawing money.
