Na onze dagelijkse cappucino en espresso rijden we vandaag door de bekende wijnstreek Stellenbosch-Franschoek en Paarl.
Deze streek op ongeveer een uurtje van Kaapstad staat bekend om zijn heerlijke wijnen en vele wijnhuizen met prachtige uitzichten!
Je kan hier wekenlang op verkenning gaan om wijntjes van topkwaliteit te degusteren!
We maken een tussenstop voor een lekkere komboecha bij Backs deli in Paarl!
Komboecha is een drankje dat ontstaat uit fermentatie van gezoete thee door azijnzuurbacteriën- en gist-culturen.
Ons eerste wijnhuis dat we bezoeken is fairview.
Hier kan je naast de wijnen ook kiezen voor een kleine geitenkaas proeverij!
Onze tweede tasting en lunch doen we bij het wijnhuis Avontuur.
Bij het binnen rijden zien we meteen prachtige paarden die ons begeleiden naar het restaurant!
Op het terras met uitzicht over de bergen genieten we van een heerlijke lunch met aangepaste wijnen!
Na een korte wandeling op het domein rijden we verder naar Vrede en Lust.
De wijnen van dit domein werden bekroond met diverse prijzen en het zicht over de wijnlanden tijdens onze tasting is fenomenaal!
Hou er rekening mee dat de meeste domeinen rond 5 H sluiten.
We rijden opnieuw richting Kaapstad waar we de tweede legendarische berg de leeuwenkop gaan beklimmen.
De top van de berg lijkt op een leeuwenhoofd en is ook voor de niet echt sportieve mens makkelijk te doen.
Indien de wind gunstig staat zie je hier vaak ook paragliders springen!
Enkel het laatste stukje is iets pittiger doch de volledige klim is makkelijk te doen binnen het uur.
Op de top heb je een fantastisch uitzicht over Kaapstad, Robbeneiland en de oceaan!
De ondergaande zon zorgt voor een speciale beleving op de top van de leeuwenkop!
Na deze boeiende dag gaan we eten bij de Eastern Food Bazaar.
Op deze overdekte markt kan je goedkoop en vooral lekker eten.


We start our day with cappucino and espresso before driving towards the world famous wine region Stellenbosch-Franshoek en Paarl.
This region is only a 1 hour drive from Cape Town and is known for it's stunning wines and estates with beautiful views over the rolling hills.
For the lovers of good wine it's possible to drive around for weeks to visit the many wine estates in this area.
We make a first stop in Paarl at the Backsberg Deli to drink a delicious Kombucha.
Kombucha is produced by symbiotic fermentation of sugared tea using a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast.
Our first estate is Fairview, here you can do a wine tasting in combination with homemade fresh Goat cheeses.
Our next visit is at Avontuur wine estate where we do our second tasting and lunch.
Wen entering the gate we are welcomed by beautiful horses that guide us to the restaurant and Tasting Room!
On the terrace with beautiful views over the hills and horses we enjoy our lunch paired with delicious Avontuur wines!
After a short stroll on the estate we drive towards Vrede en Lust wine estate.
The Vrede en Lust wines have won many international awards and the view from the deck are fenomenal!
Keep in mind that most estates are closed for tastings at 5 pm!
We drive back to Cape Town to hike the second iconic mountain named lionshead!
This mountain top is called lionshead because the rocks are shaped like a lionshead and can be seen from a long distance.
The hike towards the top is not diificult and will take 1 hour.
During the climb and depending on the wind it's possible to see paragliders taking of from the mountain.
Only the last part of the climb is a bit more difficult but the view from the top is absolutely magnificent!
Clear views of Cape Town, Robbenisland and the ocean.
The sunset on top of lionshead gives it another dimension!
After this exiting day we stop at the Eastern Food Bazaar for diner.
In this covered market you can eat all sorts of quality Eastern food for very reasonable prices!
